Final Whistle

So the final whistle has just blown on the last weekend of the Premier League football season, and another load of football is over… Well, almost!
On Wednesday 16th May it’s Marseille v Atletico Madrid in the Europa League Final; then Saturday 19th May sees the FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Chelsea. The following weekend on the 26th May it’s the Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Sun Awareness Week

This week it’s Sun Awareness Week. With good reason – despite all the information out there 35 per cent of Brits have got sunburnt in the past year. And that’s just while in Britain!
British people are even more likely to get sunburnt abroad, with nearly half who’ve been abroad in the past 12 months getting sunburnt. This is all according to a survey carried out by the British Association of Dermatologists that has organised the awareness week.
National Walking Month

In the merry month of May… it’s National Walking Month. It was set up to encourage people to walk more throughout the entire month.
On Your Feet Britain

This Friday it’s On Your Feet Britain day. This is when workers across the nation can get together to take part in a variety of fun activities encouraging everyone to sit down less and to move more at work.
London Marathon

This weekend sees the London Marathon take place, now one of the world’s major running events since it first started in 1981. It has raised more than £450 million for charity and currently holds the Guinness world record as the biggest annual fundraising event on the entire planet!

Celebrate This Week

We have to celebrate this week – because it’s the first day of spring! This year’s Spring Equinox occurs on 20th March, when the sun crosses the celestial equator going from south to north.
Walk to Work Day

This week it’s Walk To Work Day (on April 6th) when people around the world are encouraged to ditch the car or the bus and train journey to set out to their work places by striding out in style. We’ll extend that to social events and getting to the gym.
No Smoking Day
It’s No Smoking Day this week (on the 14th), an annual campaign intended to help people who want to quit smoking.
According to the NHS, smoking is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in the country, causing more than 80,000 deaths every year. One in two smokers will die from a smoking-related disease, and for most of the others their health will suffer in some way.
