Celebrate This Week

Get Fit this Spring - NRG Gym Health Advice

We have to celebrate this week – because it’s the first day of spring! This year’s Spring Equinox occurs on 20th March, when the sun crosses the celestial equator going from south to north.

This means our sunrise is getting earlier and sunset later. The extra light and (hopefully!) increasingly warmer days means that plants are sprouting and winter’s harsh winds are softening.

It also means that, in theory, we can all start to pack away our winter clothes for another year. We might even any day now get into T-shirts and shorts weather – and so it’s the perfect time to vow to get fitter.

Here are a few exercises that spring to mind to tone us up at this time of year:

  • Arms will be back on display – so bingo wings be banished! Lifting weights helps you burn flab and tone up. Ask the experts at our gyms for the best training methods for you to tone your shoulders, biceps, triceps and forearms.
  • Remember your legs. There are various gym exercises that will have you seeing great results quickly. As above, ask in one of our gyms on the best exercises to shape your calf and thigh muscles.
  • Don’t forget your pecs and lats – exercises such as bench presses and lat pulldowns will work wonders.
  • Get your buttocks in perfect shape too! Exercises that firm up the butt include squat thrusts and running on the treadmill.

So with spring in the air, it’s definitely time to get yourself bouncing by making the gym a part of your weekly routine.
