NRG Gyms is set for further growth after securing a £18.7 million funding package from HSBC UK to continue expanding its footprint of high-quality facilities across the UK.

NRG Gyms will use the eight-figure facility to target seven new sites over the next two years, as the business expects to grow from 13 to 20 locations nationwide. As part of the funding, a £10 million revolving credit facility (RCF) will be available to support the fit-out of individual gym sites. Each gym will follow the business’s ambition to make great value, high-quality fitness facilities more accessible, combining high-spec equipment and large, modern layouts with dedicated group exercise classes and female-only zones.

The next phase of NRG Gyms’ growth will include further openings in Leicester and Nottingham, with five more locations to be announced shortly. The expansion forms part of the NRG Gyms’ wider growth plans, which include investing in member facing software and technology, continuing a data first strategy to identify future locations, and further developing its member ecosystem including health care.

As a result of the HSBC UK funding, NRG Gyms expects to create more than 70 additional jobs across its portfolio and grow turnover by more than 60 per cent over the next two years.

The deal follows an eight-figure funding package provided by HSBC UK in 2025 to help facilitate the acquisition of Pump Gyms Limited.

Shafiq Ahmed, Founder and CEO at NRG Gyms, said: “HSBC UK has supported the business over the last 10 years, and that continued backing has been instrumental in helping us scale. The team’s pragmatic, collaborative and commercial approach has helped us to more than double in size, invest in people, and build the infrastructure required to operate a much larger business. We have a strong pipeline of new sites ahead and are excited to explore further acquisition opportunities to accelerate our growth.”

George Raven, Relationship Director at HSBC UK, added: “The UK fitness industry has an important role to play in people’s physical and mental wellbeing. More people are looking for affordable, flexible ways to stay active, and NRG Gyms is meeting that demand as it grows into more towns and cities across the UK.”
