Ready for the big day?

Stay Healthy this Christmas - NRG Gym Health Advice

Are you ready for the Big Day? Or like us, can you not believe that Christmas Day 2017 is just days away? So now it’s just a case of counting down until the morning after the night before when Santa has been down the chimneys of the world delivering gifts to everyone on the Nice List… (We KNOW you’re on it!)

Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, for most of us it’s a welcome holiday, a time to relax a little, and to party too. Let’s all spare some thoughts of gratitude for such as the nurses and emergency service staff who are giving up the holidays to make sure they’re on hand if any of us need them.

And if partying is in your plans, keep in mind that too much of anything is bad for you. Take alcohol…

  • NHS health experts now recommend men and women not to drink more than 14 units a week.
  • Spread your drinking over at least three days if you do drink 14 units a week.
  • Fourteen units is around 10 small glasses of low-strength wine, or six pints of normal-strength beer.
  • One unit is 10ml of pure alcohol – and that’s the average amount of alcohol a typical adult can process through their body in 60 minutes.

We’re no killjoys, and neither are the medical experts who came up with these limits – but too much booze will get you not only seriously out of shape on the outside, it can do heaps of damage to such as your liver and throat. Like nearly everything in life, it’s all about balance.

One brilliant way to balance out any overindulgence (we’re thinking chocolates, pies and puddings at this time of year too!) is to join us at one of our gyms. Give yourself the gift of health.

It will last a lifetime.
