We all love this one – on Sunday 7th July it’s World Chocolate Day!
Chocolate can contain big calories and heaps of sugar, but it has fantastic health benefits too. That’s certainly good news as it’s probably the most loved taste in the world.
The higher the cocoa content – think dark chocolate – the more healthy goodness there is. Dark choc usually has less fat and sugar than milk or white choc too.
So have a nibble of a choc bar and then some more on World Chocolate Day – and don’t feel guilty!
- Eating chocolate in moderation can lower blood pressure and poor cholesterol levels.
- It can reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems. In a study of 45,000 people, scientists found those who ate chocolate were 22 per cent less likely to have a stroke than those who didn’t.
- Dark chocolate can boost oxygen availability while you’re fitness training, so allowing you to train with more energy and for longer.
- It’s not just beneficial for the body – US scientists revealed recently that drinking two cups of hot choc a day can help keep the brain healthy.
So we hope to see you soon, and feel free to share your chocolate with us – and we may well share ours with you too!
